I spent nine days at Meg Robinson's retreat in Alcazar in February. This was a perfect setting for me - a lovely, peaceful village where I could concentrate on the editing of my novel. The surrounding countryside was wonderful to explore on the occasions when I felt I needed extra inspiration - or just some exercise!
Meg's house was a beautiful oasis of calm. I had a very comfortable bedroom and use of a second room in which to do my work. I was able to establish my own work schedule, but joined Meg each evening for a delicious meal prepared by her. This was a great opportunity for interesting conversation. Meg in fact provided food for every meal - and the wholesome and fresh produce meant that I went back to England at the end of my stay feeling really healthy.
Meg was a superb hostess - kind, supportive, sensitive and very respectful of my need for calm and quiet. At the same time, we were able to find occasions to share many stimulating discussions. I look forward to spending time in her house again in the future.

At Alcazar you will experience life in a traditional Spanish village nestled among the Alpujarra hills and believe you are in another world! Peace and tranquility reign with only the occasional sounds of nature (or barking dog!) to bring you back to earth. A warm welcome awaits you – Meg is a superb hostess – bellyfulls of good homely food, advice on the local area and sights, and lifts to the bus stop or Orgiva – nothing seems too much trouble! Walk in the hills, bask on the balcony or keep cool in her lovely home. An ideal place to rejuvenate your soul.

'My August holiday in Alcazar lives with me still. It was difficult to leave - the ease of Meg's hospitality, the delight of her house, the beauty of the mountains, seeming just an arm's reach away, the welcoming silence which barking dogs, goat bells and Spanish voices punctuated but didn't disrupt. It was a magical landmark time for me.
Of course I will go back.'

8 days in Alcazar
When 'Driving Over Lemons' fell off a shelf right in front of me during a visit to my local library in Scotland I knew it was time to go to stay in Alcazar. Initially worried about how I'd get there and what to take I found out that with Meg's help the journey there was simple and part of the adventure.
I spent 8 days in Alcazar reconnecting with my creativity in a safe and inspiring environment, I was honoured to have Meg as my teacher-guide.
Meg's house is beautiful, with sanctuary, studio space, sun terrace, art and books. The perfect balance of solitude and company, away from TV and commerce.
Loosely following a set programme which allows for many different types of creative work - making, ritual, journaling, cards, dance, river art, fun, laughter, adventure. Also, exploring Alcazar and it's countryside, river walking in the Rambler, meeting local artists, sleeping on the sun terrace under the Spanish stars.
Whilst facilitating and sharing in my adventures Meg also conjured up: lovely home cooked meals, interesting people to meet, transport to the airport…….
I loved my time in Alcazar and hope to return soon.

…..I have been reflecting a lot about my time with you in Alcazar and seem a bit zealous in my enthusiasm to write, reflect, and talk about my experience. I should know by now, having taken quite a number of personal retreats, how powerful they can be. The simplicity of Alcazar itself, not to mention the caring support you lovingly provide, is perfect for self examination, rumination and reflection, all of which I did in spades. ……Please know that the ambience you have created is accomplishing exactly what you intended, an environment with freedom to explore, psychological space to reflect, and subtle nurturing with which to enjoy the wonders if self on this fascinating planet. Again, thank you for being beautiful you and for creating life changing opportunities in Alcazar.

Visiting Meg in La Alpuharras was a profoundly enlightening experience for me! A week of walks and talks, storytelling, healing, divination, and meditating, left me peaceful, refreshed and deeply touched. Meg is an inspiration, her facilitation is gentle, sincere and very supportive. Being a guest in her home is like being in a 3D painting~ every brick and tile has a story to tell! And Megs love and appreciation of La Alpuharras makes her a wonderful guide and ambassador to this beautiful land and people. Thank you for everything Meg!

Dear Meg, there’s so much to thank you for. the healing, the talking, the laughing, the fruit -juicing, the cooking, but the most important of all: your open heart.

Alcazar
A wonderfully nuturing and restful time where I had the space to allow whatever needed to develop to come through. I felt cocooned and cared for by Meg, whilst at the same time given plenty of space and time on my own. The beatuy of the natural surroundings as well as the wonderful food were superb. For me it was about withdrawing and as I said cocooning, going inside and lettings things work through and settle.
I was intuitively drawn towards Meg's retreat and even though I had no specific expectations, it was just right. And as someone in Orgiva told me ' we all get what need'.
The picnic in the pine forest was magical. Simple food eaten in the majesty of nature was a real treat to the senses. My time at the river in Puerto De Juviley was very powerful. The ceremonies Meg guided me through were very healing.
At the end of my week I felt my mind expanded and my horizons broadended to the many creative ways that we can each heal ourselves.

When I happened upon Megs site I was deeply in need of comfort. Had a shaky patch in my life and needed stabilising. Was actually looking for a painting course to cheer me up and have no idea how I was led to Meg. I sent a kind of SOS that eve and from then on it was magical. Was warned by friends and family not to expect too much because was so looking forward to it. Got much much more than I expected. Meg introduced me to many wonderful ways of getting in touch with myself... Made me feel amazingly happy...Methods still work. As a hostess she couldn't have been better..Meg asked me what I loved to eat before I went to her. Was amazed..Everything I wished for I got including a lemon merangue pie. found myself drooling aroung meal times. Meg Is still there in my life.. Wasn't just a week in magical Alcazar. She reminded me that there's much more than the eye can see if you allow it to be. Thanks Meg.. Hope to see you in the Autumn again.. Looking forward to an amazing comfort massage from Soona and reassurance and a check up from wise Bryan.
